Map out the keyword cluster that best corresponds to the root phrase.

Make sure the initial keyword is utilized once in the first 25 words of the document.

Contextually integrate the secondary keyword 1-2 times into the page.

Make sure the page has 500-750 word min. so that search engines have enough context to identify the pages primary and secondary topic.

Use both the singular keyword variation and the alternative variation in the title if possible (or in the title+meta tag) – such as keyword1 in title, and keyword 2 (singular or plural in meta data).

Build internal links using the alternative keyword variations to supply the foundation of link flow.

Build inbound anchor text to the page (from other relevant pages) with the alternate variations of phrases you want the target page to rank for ( i.e. rates, pricing, fees, prices, cost) as an example of semantic stemming.

Wait for all the changes to get indexed. (*Good practise is to change 4-5 webpages on your website each week. Then post to search engines 2x’s per month. I submit for example, 1st & 15th of every month.)

Continue building internal and external inbound links until the page reaches the top 10 for one keyword, then reduce the inbound links for that keyword and focus on alternative variables so all the keywords are sufficiently nurtured.

Enjoy stemmed keyword rankings over time.

Optimizing keywords is key. Do solid research with Google Adwords Keyword Tool.

… more coming soon on SEO, and organic SEO.

May 5, 2010 at 12:00pm ET by Danny Sullivan

After months of testing, Google is releasing a new look-and-feel for its search results today, a three column design that provides a permanent menu of search options and tools to help searchers refine their queries. Google also gains a freshly-updated logo along the way.

The new user interface — UI for the tech crowd — places search options into a column on the left-hand side of the search results page. Search results themselves appear in the middle, in a wider column. Ads appear in the right column, though some ads continue to appear in the middle column above editorial picks:

To me, the new look is colorful yet clean and not distracting. It should make it easier for searchers to drill-down further into their queries. Having personally tested it in the past, when I’ve been included in Google’s trial tests like many others picked randomly, I’m glad to see it finally go mainstream. It rolls out today worldwide in 26 languages. Google tells me that by the end of the day, everyone should see the new look.

Many of the options in the new left-hand search options column aren’t new. Google made many of these features available a year ago and then expanded them last October (see Up Close With Google Search Options). However, in order to find the options, you had to “open up” the search options column that by default was left off. Today’s change opens up the column permanently, which should cause many more people to make use of these.

The move to a permanently three-column design sees Google following in the footsteps of Ask.com, which pioneered the look back in 2007. Bing and Yahoo followed the three pane trend in 2009, and now it has effectively been given the stamp of approval by search giant Google itself.

Below, a closer look at the new design and options, followed by some history and background. Search Options Column

The new search options column (or left panel, as Google calls it internally) is devoted to ways for people to refine their searches.

ATLANTA, April 24, 2010 – On Saturday, April 24th, more than 50,000 children, teenagers and adults will participate in a Day of Service in ten Southern States and surrounding areas in Texas, Indiana, Illinois and Virginia. This 2nd annual Day of Service provides thousands of volunteers in community organizations, faith-based groups and local government agencies the opportunity to link arms and lend a helping hand to those in need.

By rallying around individuals in need, organizations that serve the homeless and communities struggling in these tough economic times, volunteers are demonstrating the strength and power of the American spirit. Organized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), over 300 partners and 400 projects are already registered at www.DayofService.org.

The Day of Service is the vision of Elder Walter F. Gonzalez, member of the Presidency of the Seventy for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who presides over church affairs in the Southern part of the United States. For the second year in a row, he challenged every congregation under his jurisdiction to link arms with other churches and civic organizations to render significant and unselfish community service. The first Day of Service was held on April 25, 2009.

When Gonzalez gave the Day of Service challenge to LDS leaders to implement, he said that by linking arms and giving service, every community could become a better place to live. He added that people will forget their own problems as they experience the joy of service.

LDS congregations from the Florida Keys to Raleigh, North Carolina and from Shreveport, Louisiana to Savannah, Georgia are partnering with city, county, business, humanitarian and faith-based organizations to donate thousands of hours of volunteer service to help heal America from the economic trials faced by so many honest, hard-working Americans.

Bruce Bartholomew, Ft. Lauderdale President over nine LDS congregations in Broward County explains, “We want to serve side-by-side with organizations and people with whom we have so much in common. These days of service unify and bond our communities. Like old-time barn raisings, we can accomplish more when we unite. It also helps us to let go of our own problems for a few hours and focus on others who need our help. We hope many will join us.”

Some of the government and community organizations linking arms in Broward County to serve the homeless include Broward Partnership for the Homeless, Hope Outreach Center, and The Shepherd’s Way.

Edwin Copeland, program manager for The Shepherd’s Way, is thankful for members of the faith community linking arms to help on the Day of Service. He said, “Our work, serving homeless and hurting families, would not be possible without the support of the faith community. Whether it’s hosting a family for a week or coming out for a work day, when our partners put their faith-in-action the families we serve are blessed and reminded that they do not face this journey alone.”

There are around 900 LDS congregations in the fourteen state Day of Service area, ranging from Florida to Indiana, each providing service in their community. To find volunteer opportunities, interested individuals can go to www.dayofservice.org, click on their state, and then choose their local community where the projects are listed.

Warming the Hearts of Veterans In Tampa, Florida the Bay Pines Volunteer Services and various veterans groups in Pinellas and Pasco Counties are partnering with LDS volunteers to provide much needed service for over 1200 veterans of foreign wars. Critical repairs, landscaping, shrub and tree trimming, and cleaning the shoreline around the Bay Pines campus are all on the task list for volunteers. These efforts will be conducted at the Veterans Administration Bay Pines Hospital, the Outpatient Centers, and the Foster Care Facilities.

Healing the Homeless For the Day of Service in Orlando, Florida, the LDS volunteers are partnering with the Homeless Services Network of Central Florida (HSN) and Families in Transition which serves the homeless in Seminole County Schools, to provide critical services to homeless and low income families in the area.

Donna Parker, Day of Service Chair, stated that there are over 50 homeless camps in Central Florida and that this year there are 350 families in the HSN network as opposed to 145 last year, a 141% increase. Parker’s heart has been warmed as single mothers with children call to register for the day and thank her for sponsoring this life-saving event.

Allison Estes, Director of the Homeless Services Network of Central Florida, said about Day of Service:

“It is so vital to have these Community Service Days. Homeless Services Network is happy to team with The Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints and other agencies for the ‘It’s About Families Event’. This event will bring awareness to our community of the great need for services for homeless and low income families. Because of this event, we will be able to provide much needed services like ID, food stamps, medical care, and much more. We are anticipating to see over 350 families on April 24. HSN hosts similar events throughout the year, and we find them to be an extremely effective tool to help those in need, and give volunteers a great event to dedicate their time to.”

“We are grateful to have the opportunity to help the homeless,” said President James R. Pratt who presides over the nine Orlando congregations. “We pray people will be comforted and strengthened through these efforts.”

In Charlotte, North Carolina, the volunteers are taking a new twist on helping the homeless. Heather Jenkins, Day of Service Chair, arranged a partnership with Community Link (www.communitylink-NC.org) to provide families in transition from homelessness to housing with necessary items to get started creating their home. Volunteers are gathering pots, pans, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, irons, laundry baskets, mops and brooms.

In addition to providing help to families in transition, on April 24th the Charlotte LDS congregation is partnering with St. Stephen United Methodist Church and Crisis Assistance Ministry to sponsor a 2-hour poverty simulation experience for the community in which attendees are divided into ‘homeless families’ and given the task to survive. The simulation exposes participants to the realities of poverty. It gives them first-hand insight into the complex world of government services, private agencies, and commercial enterprises that impact poverty. The exercise makes homelessness more real and raises awareness of the need to reach out to these families.

Helping the Elderly The East Chattanooga Task Force and the East Chattanooga Weed and Seed (http://www.eastchattanoogaweedandseed.org) work to improve the quality of life in East Chattanooga. They, along with numerous other community organizations, are partnering with the Chattanooga LDS congregations to serve shut-ins, widows and the elderly in East Chattanooga who do not have the means or manpower to repair their homes.

President Richard Youngblood who presides over 13 LDS congregations in the Chattanooga area estimates that between LDS and community volunteers, 1,700 people will be serving on April 24th. As some volunteers make repairs, paint and clear debris from homes, others will be assisting a nursing home by sewing new drapes and making individual quilts for the elderly residents. Children are participating by delivering handmade greeting cards and singing cheery songs to the residents.

“This Linking Arms and Helping Hand project helps volunteers realize they are a part of something larger than their own congregation,” said President Youngblood. “As they bond with their brothers and sisters in the community, they feel the strength of community and a connection to something larger than themselves.”

Youngblood made this observation: “Ultimately, however, this Day of Service is about people learning to take care of themselves but working together as friends and neighbors to do so. The citizens being served contribute what they can. One widow we contacted and volunteered to help was extremely appreciative and commented that she often feels lost because no one remembers her. She could not do physical work but eagerly volunteered to feed anyone who came to help.”

Protecting Migrant Workers For the second year in a row, LDS volunteers will be partnering with the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry in Raleigh, North Carolina. The service will include gathering long-sleeve shirts and pants for the farm workers so the workers are protected from the sun and from pesticides as they work in the fields. Father Tony Rojas, Director of the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry, said “We are indeed grateful for the compassion your church has for these farmworkers and their families. We were overwhelmed with your support last year and are very grateful to link arms again this year to provide clothing, food, and hygiene kits.”

Elder John Taggart who coordinates the Raleigh area for the LDS Church commented on the Migrant Farmworker Ministry: “Father Rojas is a humble, dedicated disciple of Christ and servant of his people. We Latter-day Saints are honored to work with him.”

In the 2009 Day of Service, 47,755 volunteers from 13 states participated for a total of 554 projects and 223,204 man hours worked with 1,267 community partners.
Bottom line unfair, and should not pass because it’s wrong. ———–> The bill passed in a 219-212 vote after more than a year of bitter partisan debate. All 178 Republicans opposed it, along with 34 Democrats.

The overall $940 billion plan is projected to extend insurance coverage to roughly 32 million additional Americans. It represents a significant step toward the goal of universal coverage sought by every Democratic president since Harry Truman. ***GOVERNMENT’S DEBT PROBLEM IS THEIR PROBLEM. THEY SHOULD TAKE CARE OF TEHIR OWN DEBT, AND LEAVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE OUT OF THE FORMULA. WHY SHOULD WE PAY HIGHER TAXES OR MORE TAXES FOR THEIR DEBT. THEY CAN JUST PRINT MORE MONEY, THUS CREATING MORE DEBT. ***WE SEND PEOPLE TO THE MOON, WE CREATE SUPER COMPUTERS, WE CREATE VACCINE’S, ETC. CAN THE U.S. GOVERNMENT CREATE A SOLUTION TO TAKE CARE OF DEBT, EXCLUDING US AMERICANS. WHO SUFFERS MOST — THE MIDDLE CLASS. ENOUGH SAID.

Bottom line unfair voting. ———–>WHY should we pay more taxes, why us, why provide for people w/o jobs. Why, help the lazy folk in U.S. that sit on their buttocks, and receive state assistance. We should not have to pay more taxes, because 32 million Americans do not have health insurance. ***MAIN REASON some Americans do not have health insurance is… IT’S TOO EXPENSIVE. FOR EXAMPLE, $275 FOR 1 PERSON, FOR YOUR WIFE OR FOR YOUR HUSBAND. And you can not use the dental portion of the plan for 1 year! That’s just giving the health insurance firms FREE money!

Key Details of the Bill:

$875 billion health care reform bill heads to president’s desk to be signed into law.

Bill passed 219-212, with all Republicans and some Democrats voting against.

Could cut the federal deficit by $118 billion over the next 10 years.

Cut budget deficits by more than $1 trillion in its second decade.

Subsidize insurance for a family of four making up to about $88,000 annually, or 400 percent of the federal poverty level.

Creates a series of health insurance exchanges designed to make it easier for small businesses, the self-employed and the unemployed to pool resources and purchase less expensive coverage.

Hikes Medicare payroll taxes on families making more than $250,000.

40 percent tax on insurance companies providing “Cadillac” health plans valued at more than $8,500 for individuals and $23,000 for families. The tax won’t kick in until 2018.

Parents, however, will be entitled to keep their children on their health care plans until age 26.

Senior citizens stuck in the doughnut hole this year would receive a $250 rebate.

Brown, however, decried the vote and said the nation can’t afford the measure. “Today’s vote shows that leaders in Washington continue to ignore the will of the people,” he said. “Americans have sent a message to Washington for the past year, including with my election, that they are opposed to this multitrillion-dollar health care bill that will raise taxes, increase premiums, cut Medicare and leave future generations with a mountain of debt.”

March 15, 2010
Facebook reached an important milestone for the week ending March 13, 2010 and surpassed Google in the US to become the most visited website for the week.

Facebook.com recently reached the #1 ranking on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day as well as the weekend of March 6th and 7th. The market share of visits to Facebook.com increased 185% last week as compared to the same week in 2009, while visits to Google.com increased 9% during the same time frame. Together Facebook.com and Google.com accounted for 14% of all US Internet visits last week.

Heather Dougherty explained, “The market share of visits to Facebook.com increased 185% last week as compared to the same week in 2009, while visits to Google.com increased 9% during the same time frame.”

Then here’s one more interesting fact, courtesy of Dougherty: “Together Facebook.com and Google.com accounted for 14% of all US Internet visits last week.”

Anyway, this development represents a major win for Facebook. The ability to represent the social network as the number one site should count for a lot as corporate representatives talk to advertisers and investors, and could result in a direct boost in revenue. A further snowball effect in terms of user interest might occur, too, since most people like to be part of something that’s popular.

The 2010 Olympic Winter Games have taught us that we are not 6 billion people.

We are all members of the same family. Over these remarkable 17 days we have together demonstrated the remarkable powers of sport to the human world. We have seen first hand that there is indeed a beautiful force that can unite, inspire and liberate - a force that can replace despair with hope and ignite the human spirit. This force is sport in the arena of the Olympic Games. And because we had sport here - we too had peace. And because these Games took place in the spirit of peace, they took place in the spirit of friendship.

But the time has come to say goodbye – to say thank you. And to perhaps compare for a moment the Canada that was……with the Canada that now is.

I believe we Canadians tonight are stronger, more united, more in love with our country and more connected with each other than ever before. These Olympic Games have lifted us up. If the Canada that came together on Opening night was a little mysterious to some it no longer is. Now you know us….eh?

If we were once the few we are surely now the many. That quiet, humble national pride we were sometimes reluctant to acknowledge seemed to take to the streets as the most beautiful kind of patriotism broke out all across our country; so many new and dazzling applications for the Maple Leaf - so many reasons to smile and be joyful.

Canadians you joined each other and our colourful international visitors in common celebration – radiant, jubilant, spontaneous, peaceful. For us you were the wind beneath our wings. You did not just cheer – rather you lived every glorious moment as if you yourselves were competing for gold. You were the bench strength we had hoped for – the difference makers at these Games.

Alexander - your first Gold Medal gave us all permission to feel like and behave like champions. Our last one will be remembered for generations.

To the Men and Women in the Blue Jackets, you are the undisputed heroes of these Games. The class of 2010. A perfect team – you have behaved with great dignity, poured your hearts and souls into every task. You smiled - you cheered and you filled the hearts of our visitors with friendship and good will. For many of you who toiled behind the scenes no thanks will ever be enough. You took on a stubborn mountain with all your might. The result — Blue Jackets 1 — Cypress Mountain Weather zero. You were tested again and again and reminded us all every day that there is no force that can sustain itself against the full thrust of a determined human heart. May your contribution here be worn as a badge of honour for the rest of your lives. For you have — through your service — defined for all to see what it is to be a proud, generous Canadian.

To our many friends and trusted partners, we tip our hat to each of you for a magnificent contribution. To our leaders – sitting over there – full credit for believing in and empowering this great adventure. To those who built the venues, drove the busses, cooked the food, and toiled day and night to complete a million tasks — may the success of these Games be your reward for all your days to come.

To the people of the host region — you were magnificent. Your contribution was magical.

To our International visitors you were gracious, thoughtful, spontaneous guests and spirited fans…Thank you very much. To our security team for keeping us safe – you were in a word “terrific.” To the IOC – thank you for trusting us and investing so passionately in our success. It has been our great honour to host the world and we thank you for believing in our vision…we did our best. To our friends from Sochi we are in your corner and wish you every success in 2014.

To the people of Georgia, we are so sad and so sorry for your loss. Your unimaginable grief is shared by every Canadian…and all those who have gathered here. May the legacy of your favourite son Nodar Kumaritashvilli never be forgotten and serve to inspire youth everywhere to be champions in life.

Athletes of the world you promised you would play fair and you did. At your hands and through your determination and tenacity we have felt every imaginable emotion. We have lived the agony and the ecstasy with you as if we ourselves were competing. By your example you have injected hope into the lives of youth everywhere – youth that will rise tomorrow ready to emulate you. Boys and girls you will never meet now know that it is possible to achieve greatness through the power of a dream. You have set the course for the next generation of great champions. You return to your homes as the best ambassadors we have for a better world…you are the future. The youth of the world await your leadership and your example.

And finally to those who have watched us all over the globe we hope you enjoyed these Games and the telling of our humble Canadian story. The young men and women you sent here are coming home – you can be very proud of them. The Games will have many wonderful legacies. I wish but for one.

That every Canadian child - be they from Chicoutimi - Moncton – Grand Prairie – Squamish or Niagara Falls will have the chance to grow up to experience the pleasure of sport … no one left out. And that we of the Global Olympic family will not rest until the right of every child to play across this planet is secured. Good bye to you all…

As Robert Charlebois said “Farewell, you will always be my best memory.” Thank you very much, good bye. Long live Canada. Thank you, Canada.

Whistler (AFP) - Austria’s invincible ski-jumpers soared to a convincing Olympic gold medal on Monday in the team event for a record-tying fifth consecutive title at major competitions.

Young gun Gregor Schlierenzauer just managed to stay on his skis in the final jump of the day to lead the ‘Eagles’ to victory over Germany and Norway.

They scored 1107.9 points — the highest in Olympic team history — to Germany’s 1035.8 and Norway’s 1030.2.

“I feel so fantastic. It is a dream. And now three, three gold medals (in his Olympic career),” said Austrian jumper Thomas Morgansteen.

“I really can’t believe this. We have all done it together, such great friends, such a great team.”

Schlierenzauer, 20, had already picked up individual bronze on both the normal and the large hill.

“For me, this has been a perfect first Olympics,” he said. “I won three medals. For myself, I have to say individual medals are better, but it’s great to be Olympic champion with the team. We have worked hard together all year.”

Schlierenzauer was the star of the show, with his two jumps of 140.5m and 146.5m so impressive that his personal score of 290.1 points was more than Simon Ammann’s gold medal winning score of 283.6 in the large hill individual on Saturday.

Germany used team consistency to place second, as its jumpers ranked in the top four in seven of the eight groupings.

Michael Neumayer’s final jump of 136.5m preserved the medal and the emotional Germans celebrated as if it was a gold.

“My dream come true,” said Neumayer. “Today was really perfect. The weather was really nice and the jumps were very long.”

For Austria, it was a record-tying fifth consecutive team gold at major competitions after previous large hill triumphs at Torino in 2006 and at the 2005, 2007 and 2009 world championships.

Speculation has focused on NHL legend Wayne Gretzky, but others have campaigned for Betty Fox, the mother of the late Terry Fox, a national hero.

In 1980, Terry Fox, battling osteosarcoma, set out to cross Canada, running about the equivalent of a marathon each day to raise money for cancer research. But Fox, who had a prosthetic right leg, had to quit after 143 days as his cancer spread. He died less than a year later.

The idea of a hologram of Fox carrying the torch the final steps also has been floated.

Hundreds of millions of people are expected to tune in on televisions around the world for the event, which begins at 6 p.m. local time (9 p.m. ET). There will be no worries about the weather; these are the first ceremonies to be held in a domed stadium.

Canada hopes to make a good impression on viewers of the games, which will take place over 17 days.
